A few years ago, a guy named Morgan Philpot started popping up on YouTube and social media. Mostly, it was (and is still) him giving presentations about the scriptures and last days prophecies and events.1 He says some really interesting stuff, so he’s worth looking up.
While I don’t agree with everything that Morgan Philpot says, I have found many of his insights incredibly valuable. One of those is his work on how the events of 3 Nephi parallel current and possibly future events.
Essentially, the Nephite year 1 (which began at the birth of Christ) corresponds to our year 2000; and the Nephite 34th year corresponds to our year 2033… They’re off by one year, with the Nephite year starting sometime in March/April like the Hebrew calendar does.
He begins the parallel at the dedication of the Palmyra New York Temple on April 6, 2000–which just so happened to be 1 Nisan 5760, exactly 20 Hebrew years before the temples closed on March 26, 2020.2
Some of the things in this parallel are remarkable. I wanted to share some of the more interesting things I’ve found by looking at Brother Philpot’s ideas and studying 3 Nephi myself, so I made the table below. You’ll notice that it contains things that have happened in our past, as well as years that go into our future. I’ve extended the 3rd Nephi parallel into 4th Nephi because I believe its events might be informative as well. Despite this expansion, I’m still going to call it “the 3rd Nephi Parallel” because it starts in 3rd Nephi 1.3

As you can see, there were some pretty spot-on parallels in the past decade or so. And there are some really fascinating things to come if this parallel holds out. Here are some of my thoughts about the parallel as a whole:

As of writing this, we’re currently in the beginning of the 27th year–the 26th having just ended.6
For myself, the time between 2022 and 2024 was when I got really into studying last days events/prophecies, and in that process I definitely came across some truly amazing great and marvelous things (i.e. discoveries, epiphanies, and observations of many things pertaining to the great and marvelous work). For example, it was during that time that I learned about the TWO gatherings of Israel and when Jacob 5 started making sense to me (learn about that here).7 It was also when I traveled to Mexico to see highly-correlated Book of Mormon sites (such as this one here).
2028 is an election year, and so we should see a new President inaugurated in 2029. March 4, 2029 is also the 100th anniversary of the inauguration of Herbert Hoover, 31st President of the United States, and a widely-believed candidate for the first feather in the Ezra’s Eagle Prophecy (read here for more on that prophecy). There is also an interesting prophecy of the United States breaking up into 5 different factions, which you should read here.
The coming of Christ to the Nephites in the 34th year was not a global appearance. He came in the ending of the 34th year (3 Nephi 10:18), which corresponds to around December 2033 to March 2034 for us.8 If this parallel keeps going in reality, I believe He will also make an appearance around this time, but, like the one in the Book of Mormon, it will not be His general Second Coming in glory, but rather a preliminary visit to the Lehites (and those numbered among them) gathered at the temple in the New Jerusalem. This would parallel quite nicely His visit to the Nephites in 3rd Nephi. When then does the general Second Coming in glory happen? I don’t know, but perhaps the parallel offers some clues…
The language in 4 Nephi 1:4-7 reminds me of this passage from the Nabion, a book written by a Messianic-Jewish prophet9 who may emerge at some point in the next 20 years:
SMITE thou the ground and I shall raise up prophets as the dust to afflict this generation. Look up Israel, look up, behold the latter rain as before, saith the LORD. Look up and feel the steady rain. Lift up the head of Israel, remove thou the plate. Hear the child cry from afar: The miracles of our God, the miracles of our God— a child is cleansed; a maiden is raised from the dead; a man without legs walketh. Behold again in the name of Jesus Christ this is done in Israel. Look up, O Israel, believe and greet thy redeemer as he cometh.
Send my knights before my face. Go, thy God cometh. I stand upon Zion and brace my scepter in the mount. I am thy great general and thy exceeding great hero.
Notice that there is a purposeful twelve (12) year gap between the 59th year and the 71st year in 4th Nephi. The 59th year would correspond to 2058 for us. This is interesting to me because of what the 1111 Matrix Code guy says about the year 2058 and a possible solar flare or something along those lines happening that year.10 Interestingly, it’s after mentioning the 59th year that we’re told the people rebuild the destroyed cities and spread out and prosper and marry and have children, etc.
The man behind 1111 Matrix Code suggests that the destruction in 2058 will be the Second Coming of Jesus Christ–whether literal or symbolic is open to interpretation (the Sun and the Son of God being linked). Fascinatingly, Sir. Isaac Newton, using biblical prophecy, apparently predicted that “a new beginning for the world” would occur in the year 2060. According to one researcher:
“The date 2060 did not represent for Newton the annihilation of the globe and its inhabitants, but a dramatic transition to a millennium of peace. In other words: the end of the secular world and the beginning of the Kingdom of God.”
Well, if the Second Coming is in 2058 and the Millennium starts in 2060,11 that actually makes a lot of sense. I like the “fire” imagery associated with some kind of solar disaster coinciding with the return of the Lord. It fits perfectly with many of the scriptures about the Second Coming. There’s also a fascinating link there to the everlasting covenant that God made with Enoch, that when Zion was once again on the earth, the city of Enoch (Zion) would return. I’ve started to compile a list of all the scriptures about that and am attempting to show how they relate to the prophecies of burning at the end. Read that here if you’re interested in learning more. For now, I will just say that in 1823 the angel Moroni ominously told Joseph Smith that the day was coming when the wicked would burn, and that “they that come shall burn them” (JS-H 1:37).

Of course, the 3rd Nephi parallel is just an interesting parallel to study, not a detailed timeline of how the end times are going to play out. I would discourage setting concrete dates for anything–although I do find it really fun to speculate when things might happen. All we can do is trust in the Lord and keep watching. Treasure up His words and you will not be deceived (JST Matthew 24:39).
