BOMO suggests: “Notice the East Semitic verb wabālum, “to carry, bring,” and the noun abullum, “gate”.” The first works because Omer brought his household with him to Ablom. I believe the second is a clue that Ablom was also the original landing location of the first Jaredites, it being their GATE into the promised land.
Along those lines, I can’t help but see the Aramaic abba, meaning “father”. Perhaps this is a clue that Ablom was the place where their FATHERS first landed.
Similar to the Xbalanque and Shiblon/Shiblom connection, Ablom could be Mayan ah (“high”) and balam (“jaguar”), AH + BALAM meaning “high jaguar”. This could mirror the Old World place Moriancumer, where the first Jaredites camped for four years. Moriancumer also has a leopard meaning and a possible mound or hill (high) meaning (per David Richins). Both were “
by the seashore.”
Making it ABBA + BALAM gives us “father jaguar”, which of course would have been the brother of Jared, Moriancumer.
Sumerian ab or a-ab-ba means “sea” or “waters of the sea.” Ablom was “
by the seashore.” A possible compound word would be AB + BALAM meaning “jaguar by the sea”. Again, this mirrors the Old World Moriancumer, which also could mean something to do with the sea (per David Richins).
Lance Weaver suggests that Ablom is located at the Bull Brook complex near Ipswich, MA. This correlation is compelling, as there are various lines of linguistic evidence to support this.Some maps place Bull Brook in the territory of the Abnaki tribe. One map places the Abnaki homeland as very close to Bull Brook. The AB in their name could be another clue that Ablom was located in that region.
Another clue is the origin of the word Abnaki: “The word Abenaki and its syncope, Abnaki, are both derived from Wabanaki, or Wôbanakiak, meaning “People of the Dawn Land” in the Abenaki language. The name is spelled several ways including Abnaki, Abinaki, and Alnôbak. Wôbanakiak is derived from wôban (“dawn” or “east”) and aki (“land”)[5] (compare Proto-Algonquian *wa·pan and *axkyi).” Therefore AB could mean “east”, which fits Ablom perfectly since it “was eastward” of where the Nephites were destroyed (Cumorah in NY) and “by the seashore.”
Looking at the shoreline near Bull Brook you see that there is a sort of peninsula/opening into a small bay. This could be the abullum or GATE in which the first fathers entered the land.
Baking all these etymologies together gives us a pretty good description of Ablom: “the high jaguar place by the east seashore in the lands of the Abnaki people, the gate wherein the first fathers of the Jaredites, including the father jaguar, Moriancumer, entered the promised land.”
